John Hill, Editor of Good Ski Guide and Mountain Magic dropped us a few lines about his trusty Hillmaster's.
"I've just turned in my brasher's which have seen service in some 20 countries. I used the boots to travel to ski resorts worldwide and as a snow boot round resort, and in the spring and summer used them for many treks in the Alps and in the Cairngorms.
They saw great service in the recent Great Freeze when I was stuck in Aviemore for a week in metre-deep snow. I used them to walk to the shops in Aviemore for supplies and they initially gave up - well all that went wrong was that the join in the leather started to separate - not surprising after all those many thousands of miles.
The soles were hardly worn, and the boots were the comfiest, warmest and best water-repelling boot I have ever had and I have tested many boots over the years but always went back to my brasher's.

I now have a new pair of Hillmaster GTX which will be involved in many new adventures.
p.s The original boots were gifted to me by Mike Browne for our company's help in assisting him to set up his Snow and Rock chain."

I thought I was alone in still clinging onto my trusted 20 year old Hillmasters . They look a bit scuffed and homemade these days but nothing beats them for performance and comfort. Thanks the Brasher team and it may also be time for an upgrade!

Hi ,well im not a happy bunny theres no denying that my brasher gtx hillmaster boots are very comfortable but the suede collor round the ankle has come away from the sitching ,very annoying as this is not wear and tear (boots about 2.5 years old) this is shoddy workmanship,i was resigned to buying my 4th pair of boots in about 6 years!but first of all i have to vent my anger about this i use these boots for mostly winter only and only to walk the dog ,hardly excessive wear! Comments any one? or even better how about a replacement pair brasher?

Hi Paul,
Sorry to hear about your disatisfaction with your pair of Hillmaster's. If you would like to return them to us, as a goodwill gesture I will arrange for them to be inspected. I will come back to you with a response as soon as possible. Please email me direct to arrange this - sshanley@brasher.co.uk
