We would like to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from everyone at brasher.
Our office will be closed over the Christmas period from Wednesday 23rd December, however if you need to contact us we will be back on Monday 4th January.

"Have a great Christmas and we'll see you in 2010!"

The sixteen-strong team at Sunderland based outdoor footwear manufacturer, brasher, set out to make a difference to the environment at Durham Wildlife Trust this week.

As part of the company's environmental policy, the brasher team worked continuously from morning until evening to thin as many trees at the Trust's Rainton Meadows site, helping to conserve the local environment and improve its appearance.

In just one day, the brasher team managed to fell and thin 42 trees, playing a significant part in protecting and enhancing the woodland, as well as helping to protect a variety of animal, plant and tree species.

Andy Loeber, Managing Director, at brasher commented: "At brasher, and at our parent company Pentland, we recognise the importance of giving something back to the environment and it is something that is actively encouraged on a regular basis."
The team put 100% into making a difference to the Rainton Meadows site and had a real sense of satisfaction and achievement once they'd finished."

Durham Wildlife Trust owns or manages 25 nature reserves covering approximately 550 hectares of land, throughout County Durham and the Boroughs of South Tyneside, Gateshead, Darlington and the City of Sunderland.

The Trust's reserves are managed to enhance biodiversity and they comprise a range of habitats including internationally important limestone grasslands, species rich upland hay meadows, semi-natural woodland, open water, reed swamp and fen meadow.

Any companies interested in taking part in future activities can log on to www.durhamwt.co.uk to find out further information.

...and this year we will mostly be photographed in "The Lakes District", brasher's most popular playground.

Next season's footwear collection took to the hills and were captured on film doing what they do best - walking.

Based at Glenridding, the action packed days took place on top of Hallin Fell, Martindale, Blea Tarn in Langdale and on the shores of Ullswater.

The weather was kind to us, our models kept up to the pace, the creativity was flowing so the photo's kept being snapped.

Take a look at some of the amateur, behind the scene photo's, you will have to wait until the unveiling of our Spring Summer 2010 marketing campaign to see the professional ones.

On top of Hallin Fell, amazing clear view.

Getting ready for action at Blea Tarn, great view of the Langdale Pikes in the background.

The men got to go in the canoe whilst the women had to walk!

But the men had to go in the lake whilst the women got to watch!

Back on dry land and all was a success.

At brasher we are in the great position that every quarter we get the chance to get out of the office and into the outdoors.

The brasher team recently spent the day participating in a number of outdoor activities at nearby Hamsterley Forest in County Durham organised by our product team. As we arrived although cold, it was apparent that waterproof clothing wouldn't be needed despite it being the end of September.

The first activity of the day was team orienteering - an event that allowed us all to develop both excellent map reading skills and team building. After this, we headed into Hamsterley village for a well earned lunch at the Cross Keys pub.

The afternoon activity offered us the chance to take in Hamsterley Forest either by foot with an energetic walk or a guided tour on bikes hired through Wood N Wheels. The bike ride allowed us all to try out both new and existing skills by taking us on numerous types of terrain and often challenging technical courses.

Overall, an excellent day was had by all.

We received the following email from Mary and Gordon Halford...

"I just thought I would drop you a line to say how pleased we have been with our present boots. We purchased them in Bristol about twenty years ago and they have been worn in almost every country in western Europe and in addition Poland and Czechoslovakia. Worldwide they have been used for hiking in the USA, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan, Australia and New Zealand.
Last year during some long walks through bogs in Scotland some water penetrated through to our socks. We finally decided it was time to replace our boots. As we are both in our early seventies we think our new boots may well last for our remaining hiking days-if not I will write again!"

"Keep producing your quality products."
