We recently showed a selection of photos taken on our brasher outdoor day to Hadrian's Wall.

We asked you to decide on your favourite photo and leave us a comment why and the person leaving the best comment would recieve a pair of New Supalite GTX.

We decided the best comment was from Janet Jones who chose photo 2 commenting....

"great place for a picnic!!

Do you think she meant a teddy bears picnic!

It is that time of year when the brasher team are heading off into the great outdoors for their annual spring summer product launch.

Always a mystery where we are going...and the clues get less and less each year!

It starts the conversations flowing around the office and lots of questions being asked to seek a few clues...are we heading north or south? How many miles will we be driving? Are we driving or catchinfg a train? Do we need a sleeping bag?

All we got in return was a kit list...to state just a few of the items listed...

Knee and elbow pads - are we going caving? Assault course maybe? A game of rugby?

Swimwear, oh and don't forget your pool shoes! - are we going for a day at the beach? Or being more adventurous with a spot of canoeing?

Torch - night time walking or is the venue hard to find after dark?

Multi active footwear and outdoor clothes - that's an easy one, we are an outdoor brand after all, but are we going walking or mountain biking?

Stretchy long trousers - maybe we are going climbing?

Towel - obviously going to get wet!

So all is a mystery...drop us a line if you have any ideas what we might be letting ourselves in for.

Only a week to wait, we will keep you posted on where we end up!

If you're in the Lincolnshire Wolds or surrounding area from Saturday 22nd May you could take part in one of the organised walks in the Lincolnshire Wolds walking festival.

Running for 2 weeks there are a variation of over 80 walks to participate in. Visit the website www.woldswalkingfestival.co.uk for more information and details of all the routes up to 3 miles and for the more experienced walkers 7 miles +.

As the weather stats to warm up, it's the perfect time to enjoy walking in the great outdoors. However, for those of you who've never taken up walking as a hobby before, we have some tips that might help you get started.

Walking is the perfect entry level exercise and something that can be enjoyed regularly with friends and family - whether it's city walking while you're shopping or while enjoying a scenic break in the Lake District. It's also a great way to lose weight, strengthen leg muscles and improve your cardiovascular system and overall stamina. Being out in the fresh air can also boost your overall sense of wellbeing too, and unlike the gym, it doesn't cost a penny.

Here at brasher, we would suggest the following to help you get started on low level or hill walks:

  •  Don't push yourself too hard - listen to your body and build up your stamina gradually
  • A couple of miles is fine to begin with, and make sure you take regular breaks to enjoy the scenery
  • Why not join a local walking club and boost your social life too. They will recommend easy walks to begin with and then you can progress to moderate level walks

After all, there's so much to be experienced in your own Outdoor Playground!

Journalist Clive Tully's choice of footwear was a pair of Lithium GTX during his trip to Tenerife in January.

"I was lucky enough to spend a few days in Tenerife at the end of January, and whilst there, I got to do a walk in the Anaga rain forest, in the North East of the island. It promised to be quite rough and wet, not to mention the typically balmy Canaries climate with temperature up in the high teens. So a good opportunity to try out brasher's Lithium GTX boots. Light in weight, but waterproof and sturdy enough to take a rough trek - it seemed a good match for what was planned.

As it turned out, the vast majority of my route was downhill, a lot pretty steep. My knees weren't expecting that! And while on a footpath (actually it was a goat trail), it was stony and muddy - really slippery at times - in equal measure. I ended up doing my walking in bursts. I find plodding slowly downhill more taxing than taking it at the trot, although at times it was more like a gallop, with frequent stops to admire the Laurisilva forest, and to marvel at how tame the numerous robins were. And watching others on the walk having to take the trail a lot more tentatively made me realise just what a good job the Lithiums were doing.

Although lightweight (one of my size 10½'s tipped the scales at around 700 grams), they're not short on support, and that undoubtedly was what made the difference. Front to back, there's quite a spring in the midsole, and the torsional (twisting) resistance was excellent. You could safely traverse a hillside on the edges of the soles, and that, along with the relatively firm ankle cuff, means backpacking in these boots definitely wouldn't leave your feet screaming at the end of the day."
